Overview
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is one of the most important single-gene disorders and is a relatively common genetic disorder in Saudi ArabiaThe prevalence of sickle cell trait in Saudi Arabia ranges between 2% to 27% and up to 2.6 % will have SCD in some areas.
Patients with SCD may present with a different acute crisis. Recognition, prevention, and proper management of these crises are very important in order to improve the quality of life of SCD patients. Health care providers who manage such patients should have the necessary knowledge and experience for the management of such crises.
