Psychodynamic theory (sometimes called psychoanalytic theory) has a central role in clinical settings.The primary assumption of psychodynamics is the belief that all people possess unconscious thoughts, feelings, desires, and memories.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps the client to improve self-awareness, understand the influence of the past on present behavior, and enable the patient to work on unresolved unconscious conflicts to alleviate symptoms

Identify the theories of therapeutic action, and how psychodynamic psychotherapy works.
Recognize the differences between psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies
Define major technical concepts: Frame, boundaries, resistance, and transference.
Develop abilities to reflect and act appropriately on counter-transference reactions
Develop skills to manage difficult scenarios during clinical encounters
