Psychosocial Aspects of Obesity

Overview

Is Obesity a Mental Disorder? To answer this question, the psychiatrists and other clinicians interested in obesity have to learn the complex relationship between obesity and mental disorders.

What I will learn?

• By the end of the lecture, learners will be able to:
  Define the common psychosocial aspects in obese populations.
  Recognize the importance of monitoring psychosocial aspects related to obesity.
  Recognize the seriousness of weight bias & stigmatization.
  Develop skills to apply behavioral interventions and manage psychosocial aspects especially pre & post obesity surgery.
