This online intensive four days program provides practitioners at the beginning of the learning curve in cardiac imaging with anatomy, physiology, detailed knowledge of sonographic planes, terminology, measurements, and valvular assessment. There is an emphasis on the practical aspects of these topics with “online interactive workshop”.
Course content assumes an understanding of:
1. Normal adult anatomy
2. Physiology and physics.
3. 2D/cardiac anatomy
4. Measurements, using 2D, M-mode, and Tissue
5. Basic Doppler echocardiography.
6. Basic LV and RV function.
7. Valvular assessment using color, pulsed wave
8. and continuous wave Doppler,
9. Basic cardiomyopathy and pericardial diseases.
10. Common pathologies
11. An interactive workshop for more common cardiac pathology
By the end of the course, participants will be able:
1. To provide a detailed description of the sonographic appearances of the heart
2. To provide an insight into the hemodynamics and physiology of the heart
3. To describe routine measurements associated with M-Mode, 2D and Doppler
4. To describe the normal values for heart chamber sizes and wall thickness
5. To assess the valves, using qualitative and quantitative analysis and measurements
6. To provide an understanding of the physics of Color and Doppler
7. To develop an appreciation of the clinical terminology used in echocardiography
8. To provide an overview of common pathologies identified by ultrasound examination
9. To provide participants with an opportunity for extensive tutor assisted hands-on echocardiographic experience and access to experienced sonographers for specific problems
a series of four continuous days containing theoretical lectures in cardiac imaging with anatomy, physiology, detailed knowledge of sonographic planes, terminology, measurements and valvular assessment with an emphasis on the practical aspects of these topics with workshop tuition, led by expert sonographers.
