Introduction

This course encompasses the principles of diagnosing and managing deep vein thrombosis, as well as the recognition and management of thrombosis in unusual sites. It involves understanding risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnostic tools, treatment options, and long-term care to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals with venous thrombosis.

Objectives

By the end of the session learners will be able to
- Recognize the benefits and risks of the anticoagulants therapy to treat clotting disorders
- Apply the principles of diagnosis and management of deep vein thrombosis
- Recognize two types of unusual sites venous thrombosis: cerebral and Splanchnic
- Recall different treatment modalities for DDVT
- List guiding principles of diagnosis and treatment of VTE in pregnancy
