Overview

Tissue processing describes the steps required to take a human tissue from fixation to the state where it is completely infiltrated with a suitable histological wax and can be embedded ready for section cutting on the microtome.
Most laboratories would emphasize to their staff the importance of good tissue processing which will result in good slides and better patient outcomes.

What I will learn?

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Recognize the steps of specimen processing in the Histopathology lab from the time of tissue removed from the patient till the slides submission.
Identify proper techniques and common mistakes.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of routine histology, special stains, and immunohistochemistry.
